About the Play
Precarious is a powerful, peer-created community collage play produced by the Mission Community Action Team (CAT) in collaboration with the Tri-Cities Community Action Team (TC-CAT).
Written and performed by people with lived and living experience, family members, and community allies, Precarious explores the realities of the toxic drug crisis through story, song, and shared humanity.
Told with warmth, humour, and authenticity, the play shines a light on both the heartbreak and the hope that exist within our communities. It acknowledges the risky times we live in, celebrates resilience, and invites us to reflect on how compassion, connection, and action can transform collective pain into purpose.
Why It Matters
December can be a difficult month for many β a time of reflection and remembrance for loved ones who are not home for the holidays. Precarious offers a space to honour those weβve lost, celebrate those still here, and remind us that community care saves lives.
This event brings together art, advocacy, and action β fostering compassion and dialogue at a time when connection matters most.
Giving Back
All proceeds and donations from the evening will support The Uplifting Group, a Tri-Cities organization dedicated to providing warm clothing, winter packs, food, and outreach to unhoused and vulnerable community members.
We also believe no one should be turned away.
If cost is a barrier, please reach out to info@tri-citiescat.ca β we want everyone to have the chance to experience this transformative play.
Community Connection
Before and after the show, there will be community resource tables and naloxone training on site. Itβs an opportunity to learn, connect, and continue conversations about prevention, support, and compassion β because #ItTakesACommunity.
